畚岳(Mt. Mokko)

【もっこだけ】
八幡平の南側、秋田県と岩手県 の境に位置する山で、標高1,577メートル。
畚岳の畚(もっこ)は土砂を運ぶ道具のこと。山容がそれを連想させるために名付けられたといわれています。

With an elevation of 1,577 meters, this mountain is located on the border of Akita and Iwate prefectures to the south of Hachimantai summit. It is said that the name originates from the shape of the mountain being associated with a tool for transporting earth and sand.
