(Kanazawa Shimizu Spring)

Chosen as one of Japan's 100 famous water sources, this is the generic name for a spring that comes up in seven different places. It is said that a serpent with seven heads lived inside Mt. Iwate long ago and the well points are where it came out of the earth. The spring is on the site of the Iwate Prefectural Freshwater Fisheries Technology Center and several information boards are provided for visitors. While the spring water is not potable as is, there is a water faucet beside the site office for drinking.
